Information: Across our 15 campuses, Hunter TAFE aims for high impact Vocational Education and Training, with low impact on our surroundings.

We work with staff, students and local communities on projects that reduce our environmental footprint, improve energy efficiency and build social sustainability.

As part of our current electricity contract, 6% of our electricity is from renewable energy sources.
We continually investigate smarter ways to divert waste from landfill using ARRR principles (avoid, reduce, reuse, and recycle).

We generate more than 30kW of electricity from renewable energy sources (solar PV and wind) at Newcastle, Kurri, Muswellbrook and Wyong Campuses. These facilities and our AIRAH Award winning Solar Cooling system at Hamilton Campus are integral to of our renewable energy training and education for sustainability programs.

We use flow restriction devices, automatic timers, and energy efficient LED lighting. They reduced our electricity use by around 6% in 2013.

We offer courses ranging from implementing efficient practices in the workplace to training specialists for green collar jobs.

We have partnered with the Hunter Business Chamber and The City of Newcastle on the Energy Hunter Scheme, which aims to improve efficiency in small to medium businesses.
